Annual Conference – 2009

The 2009 Annual Conference and AGM of the Prostate Cancer Support Federation was held at the Stoke-on-Trent Campus of Staffordshire University on Saturday 25th April. It was attended by over 70 people, representing 19 Member Organisations and 3 Organisation Members.

During the Conference phase of the proceedings, presentations were heard from the following:

Dr Thomas Stuttaford – The role of the media in advocacy for prostate cancer
Emma Halls and Lester Firkins – Uncertainties about treatment of prostate cancer – shaping research
Professor Noel Clarke – Developments in Translational Research in Prostate Cancer
Professor Nick James – Developments in Therapy for prostate cancer
Professor Norman Maitland – The role of stem cells in prostate cancer treatment

  • The Hon Chairman reported the activities of the Federation over the year
  • The Hon Treasurer reported the Financial state of the Federation
  • The Hon Secretary reported on membership and the Prostate UK Grants
  • Elections were held for Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary and 6 Trustees
  • Amendments to the Constitution were agreed.
