Annual Conference – 2010

sponsored by

“Living Well with Prostate Cancer”

The 2010 Annual Conference and AGM of the Prostate Cancer Support Federation was held in the Penny Brohn Cancer Centre, Chapel Pill Lane Pill, Bristol, BS20 0HH on Saturday 24th April.

The programme of speakers covered two themes: Living well with Prostate Cancer, and, as a follow up to the Great PSA Debate, a report on a trial that the Federation is sponsoring entitled The Prostate Cancer Risk Evaluation Study (RISKMAN), which will examine the use of risk assessment tools in association with PSA-based screening. This trial is supported by both sides of the PSA argument and, it is hoped, will move the debate a step towards realistic prostate cancer screening. Federation members have an important role to play in the support and promotion of this trial.

Full details of the Annual General Meeting can be found in the Minutes. In summary:

  • The Hon Chairman reported the activities of the Federation over the year
  • The Hon Treasurer reported the Financial state of the Federation
  • The Hon Secretary reported on membership and the Prostate UK Grants
  • Elections were held for Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary and 6 Trustees
  • Amendments to the Constitution were agreed.
