For the fourth year running, Prostate Action (formerly Prostate UK) are generously making available funds for small grants to be paid to patient support groups that are members of the Federation, to
assist with running their organisations, raising
awareness or providing support to their members. Once again this year, a total of £5,000 is available. The grants, which may be of up to £500 each,
are managed by the Federation. Example cases where a small grant would be viewed favourably are equipment purchase, advertising, web space purchase and web design.
During the year ended 31st March 2011, the full amount allocated, of £5,000, was awarded to 15 Member Organisations, for a variety of projects, including design of leaflets, update of a website, supply of dispay materials, holding awareness or PSA testing events, computer euipment and software, and general assistance with funding the costs of running support meetings.
We allocate the grants in two tranches of about £2,500 each, once in August and then in March. Applications for funds out of each tranche will close at the end of July 2011, and February 2012.
An excellent example of what can be done with a Prostate UK Grant is this awareness poster produced by member organisation The Prostate Project, who are based in Guildford.
